A storytelling performance which puts together Italian folk stories coming from different collection, all related to water. The performance is opened by the fable “Il principe granchio” (The Crab Prince) as told by Italo Calvino in his collection “Fiabe italiane”. This fable inspired the title “Il principe granchio e altre storie” (The crab prince and other stories).
Storytellers and producers: Serena Zampolli, Lorenzo Caviglia.
Performed in July 2015 in Viola, Piemonte, Italy.
The event was organized in collaboration with the cultural associations “Viola Vive” and “Geronimo Carbonò”.
Personal note:
Viola is a beautiful small village on the Italian Alps which in the last twenty years has been progressively abandoned by its younger residents. My colleague and friend Lorenzo and I were invited to perform there as part of a series of events aiming to re-live the village. It was a magical experience. The performance was well received and the residents asked us back in 2016.
